that&#8217;s why this blog is a part\u00a0of the\u00a0&#8220;<a title=\"TheWebTrain - Computing, Railways and Hillwalking\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thewebtrain.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TheWebTrain<\/a>&#8220;.\u00a0 By the way, my background is in\u00a0financial services management and, more recently,\u00a0academic study\/research.\u00a0 I have a BSc in Information Systems Design and a PhD in Computing.<\/p>\n<p>As\u00a0one future\u00a0insight to this blog, here are two pictures that I hope will provide a flavour of my railway interests:\u00a0the first is of a locomotive travelling through the streets of Chur, in Switzerland; the second is a photo of\u00a0my model railway diorama called &#8220;29th Street Wharf&#8221;.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_147\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-147\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/thewebtrain.co.uk\/blog\/about-webtrain-savvy\/attachment\/ge44ii_630_chur_16-09-07\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-147\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-147\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/thewebtrain.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Ge44ii_630_Chur_16.09.07.jpg?resize=490%2C360\" alt=\"Picture of Ge44ii_630_in Chur, Switzerland in 2007\" width=\"490\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-147\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Beware of Trains on the Continent!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I thought the Chur photo presented an intriging spectacle: after all, we all make sure we drive on the correct side of the road when driving abroad, don&#8217;t we?\u00a0 You might consider that the imminent prospect facing the car driver would be one of your worst nightmares.\u00a0 Was\u00a0a disaster\u00a0about to\u00a0unfold before my eyes, as the RhB electric train made its way through Chur Stadt en route\u00a0to Arosa?\u00a0 I&#8217;ll be posting more on the subject, and on Swiss RhB\u00a0metre gauge in Graub\u00fcnden,\u00a0in the near future.<\/p>\n<p>The second picture\u00a0shows an HO gauge\u00a0model representation of a dockside railway yard, in a city somewhere on the\u00a0 West Coast, USA.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_146\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-146\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/thewebtrain.co.uk\/blog\/about-webtrain-savvy\/attachment\/29th-street-wharf-model-railway_diorama\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-146\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-146\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/thewebtrain.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/29th_Street_Wharf_Model_Railway_Diorama.jpg?resize=650%2C390\" alt=\"A picture of my model railway diorama of 29th Street Wharf\" width=\"650\" height=\"390\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-146\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">29th Street Wharf &#8211; a model railway diorama<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>29th Street Wharf\u00a0 was created by a friend, Roger Nicholls, who has\u00a0demonstrated it at model railway exhibitions in the UK.\u00a0 Fortunately, I was able to persuade him to part with it and it is now in the process of some appropriate changes, to reflect the evolution of railways over a period of time.\u00a0 Again, this\u00a0will be the subject of a forthcoming post.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s me &#8211; but what about you?\u00a0 I welcome your comment and contribution &#8211; and hope\u00a0that\u00a0<em>our<\/em> interaction will generate\u00a0constructive debate, useful information for sharing, and result in mutual respect of opinion &#8211;\u00a0so that everyone gets something out of it and enjoys being here.<\/p>\n<p>At the moment, you\u00a0can comment on posts in\u00a0one of two ways:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><em>informally<\/em>, i.e. as a contibutor, by simply completing the comment box sections below a post (including a username and active e-mail address);
